Challenge

This homeowner had a rough couple of winters in the past few years. Not only we’re they experiencing ice dams, but their gutters were starting to deteriorate too. With 20-year-old asphalt shingles that had lost their granules and subsequent gripping ability, the snow was slipping into the gutters and freezing. With a proper roofing system, the snow would either stick to the roof or properly escape the roof.

Solution

As a solution, we installed brand new gutters and added copper panels to the end of the roof to provide a surface for the snow to be directed off the roof. We also replaced the entire asphalt roof and installed a slate roof. Slate shingles make it near impossible for snow to stay on the roof. Not only are the slate roof and copper panels durable, but they add to your home’s curb appeal!
