Copper Wash on a Shingle Roof in Belmont, MA

For this project, we had to address the issue of ice dams forming in the valley of this shingle roof. Water would pool up where the three angles of the shingle roof met as it was not draining properly, and during the winter this would freeze and cause massive ice dams. The solution our certified expert came up with was to replace this section of the roof with copper. This copper wash will allow the water to drain much more easily, and as you can see in the first picture our crew replaced a large section of the shingle roof as well, taking care to tie the ice & water shield cleanly into the copper. This will ensure water does not penetrate the roof, and the copper will allow the water to run right off and drain properly.
