By default, My Documents often reside on the very same disk partition as windows installation. If a backup if flooding your mind is an alternative, but your files are excellent as the time you backed-up your documents. One the solutions I came across is creating Windows to use a custom folder separated from Disk C: or Windows installation itself and make redirected as the method folder itself. I mean, getting the folder on an additional disk, but transparent to the user.
Disk Partitioning? How I eat that?
First, lets clarify Disk Partitioning.
Partitioning is like dividing the drive on a lot more drives, but logically rather of physically. There is far more than 1 way to partition your drive. Employing the Windows setup, DOS’s fdisk or third party software. You can have primary partitions and extended partitions. You can have multiple OS installed too.

How to redirect the My Documents folder.
The partitioning instance is not the only way. A lot of OEM laptop or computer have a its own Technique Restore generating partitioning null. On this situations, or any, is your selection, you can have an additional disk installed on your PC, so you can have formatted the disk drive or the disk crash and have the document’s folder physically on the other drive. When you figured where you want the files, the subsequent step is to redirect your My Documents folder.
Let’s take disk D: for the documents target as an example. Now click Start off and correct click My Documents then properties. A new dialog windows appears, Pick MOVE and search for the destination, on this example disk D:. Is that easy! You can confirm browsing for the new ‘My Documents’ on my pc.
